Anticiplay

Last Man Standing — Full Rules

Every rule that governs an Anticiplay league, including the edge cases people actually argue about. New to the format? Start with how Last Man Standing works.

TopicHow it works
EntryFree to play. Anticiplay does not collect entry fees or distribute prizes. Any money arrangement between players is entirely outside this platform.
Making a pickBefore the round is settled, pick one team you think will win. You can't pick the same team twice across the same league. Once you lock in a pick, it's final — it can't be changed.
Pick deadlinePicks close automatically 1 hour before kickoff of the first game in that round. If you haven't locked in a pick by then, you're automatically disqualified for that round.
EliminationA draw or a loss for your picked team eliminates you. So does missing the pick deadline.
ResultsFilled in automatically from real Premier League scores once the admin links the round to the actual matchday — no one needs to enter them by hand, though the organiser can always override a result manually if needed.
WinningPlay continues, round after round, until one player remains — they're the winner. If everyone left standing goes out together in the same round instead, there's no winner that season — it rolls over. Either way, a new season starts automatically the following round, with everyone back in.
Starting your own leagueAnyone can start a free league from the Get Started page. Your league gets its own code, its own players, and its own standings — nothing to do with anyone else's.
The Anticiplay LeagueAlongside any private leagues, there's one official site-wide Anticiplay league everyone's welcome in. Join it directly from the home page, or — the first time you join or start any other Anticiplay league — you're entered into it automatically.

Is Anticiplay free to play?

Yes. Anticiplay is free to play, collects no entry fees and distributes no prizes. Any money arrangement between players is entirely outside the platform.

Can you pick the same team twice?

No. You cannot pick the same team twice across the same league. Once you have used a team, it is unavailable to you for the rest of that league — which is the constraint that makes the game difficult, because your strongest options are spent permanently.

Does a draw eliminate you in Last Man Standing?

Yes. A draw eliminates you exactly as a loss does. Your picked team must win. This is the rule that catches most new players, because a draw feels like a partial result and is scored as a total failure.

When is the pick deadline?

Picks close automatically one hour before kickoff of the first game in that round. If you have not locked in a pick by then, you are automatically disqualified for that round.

Can you change your pick once it is submitted?

No. Once you lock in a pick it is final and cannot be changed.

What happens if you forget to make a pick?

Missing the deadline eliminates you in the same way a losing pick does — you are automatically disqualified for that round. Anticiplay emails every player when a round settles, so you are told where you stand without having to check the site.

How are results decided?

Results are filled in automatically from real Premier League scores once the organiser links the round to the actual matchday. Nobody needs to enter them by hand, though the organiser can override a result manually if needed.

How does someone win?

Play continues, round after round, until one player remains — that player is the winner and is recorded in the league's Hall of Fame.

What happens if everyone is eliminated in the same round?

If everyone left standing goes out together in the same round, there is no winner that season and the league rolls over, recorded in the Hall of Fame as a rollover rather than a win. Either way — winner or rollover — a new season starts automatically the following round with everyone back in.

Can you start a league mid-season?

Yes. When a league is created, the organiser sets which real Premier League matchday its first round refers to — any matchday from 1 to 38. There is no seasonal window and nothing to wait for, so a league started in November begins in November.

Can you join a league that has already started?

Once that season's first round has passed its pick deadline, joining that season closes, because entering partway through would mean missing earlier rounds and being eliminated straight away. You go on the league's waiting list instead, and you are added as a player automatically — and emailed — the moment that season ends and the next one begins. The organiser can also add you straight into the next round if they prefer.

What happens after you are knocked out?

You wait for the next season, which usually is not long. When a season ends, whether with a winner or a rollover, a new one starts automatically the following round with everyone back in, and every team is available to you again.

Do you need an account or a password?

No password is required. Players join with a name and an email address. If you later switch device or browser, entering the same email links that device back to every league you are already part of, without creating duplicates.

How do you start your own league?

Anyone can start a free league from the Get Started page. Your league gets its own code, its own players and its own standings, entirely separate from anyone else's. The organizer guide covers running one step by step.

What is the official Anticiplay League?

Alongside any private leagues, there is one official site-wide Anticiplay league that everyone is welcome in. You can join it directly from the home page, and the first time you join or start any other Anticiplay league you are entered into it automatically.
